Roger J. Meyer, M.D.
Roger Meyer, M.D., joined the staff of New Vision Eye Center July 20, 2009. He specializes in Diseases and Surgery of the Retina and Vitreous, with a special interest in Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD), Diabetic Eye Care, Glaucoma, and the optic nerve. He is fellowship trained, with 23 years of experience in Indian River County, concentrating on treatment of the Retina & Vitreous. As such, he draws patients and accepts referrals from around the country.
He earned his bachelor's degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee - graduating Cum Laude. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree at Northwestern University, Chicago, IL. From there, Dr. Meyer completed internship training at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago in categorical internal medicine. He returned to Northwestern for his residency in ophthalmology. Because of his special interest in diseases and surgery of the retina, Dr. Meyer then entered the fellowship training program at Northwestern for vitreo-retinal surgery.
Dr. Meyer is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association, the Indian River County Medical Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Florida Society of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Meyer has published and lectured in his field. His article "Recurrences and Bilaterality in Multiple Evanescent White-Dot Syndrome” has been published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Meyer and his wife Mary Jo have two grown children and live in Vero Beach. He is an avid golfer.
